I started my new lifting routine today. I hate lifting weights.
I'd rather run. Now that I am running on the treadmill I am so much happier. I can't run outside as much as I use to. It's too much on my flat feet and really caused me some damage. I didn't run for 9 days, I thought I was going to die, and when I went back to the gym and got on the treadmill I felt great again. I noticed that when my ankle was healing and I wasn't running I felt sluggish, lazy, and unable to move but with just one run on the treadmill I felt youthful again.
I can actually do squats now.
I was intimidated at the gym today. I am not seasoned with lifting weights. I resemble a lost child walking around Disney looking for their family. I stop to look at each machine, read the directions on how to use the machine, and then spend a good amount of time figuring out what weight I should be lifting. The other members jump on the machines like they are taking their Harley out for the weekend. There is no hesitation like when I approach the machine.
I didn't let my fears take over and I completed my workout. There were so many hot latin guys there it was hard to focus on my routine. It was like being at a Puerto Rican Bathhouse. Here I am trying to lift my 20lb weights and I got a hot Puerto Rican to the left of me; a hot Puerto Rican to the right of me and when I looked up in the mirror there was even a hot Puerto Rican behind me.
If Bally's dimmed the lights, got rid of the ladies, put some dance music on, and handed everyone a Bud Light - I'd never leave.
Good Job Joe! Your suppose to take the time to read up on how to use them. The people in your fitness club were novice when they started but the learned how to use them as you are. Soon you will see the new guy that come in and you will bounce your pecs and intimidate him. But just like you he will persevere Keep up the good work!!! Hugs!!
